This feature allows both reversing mirrors and front window to be viewed at the same time.
Each individual view is optimised for an aspect ratio of 16:9, a widescreen format that's the standard for many devices, including TVs, computers, and smartphones.
When the views are displayed side by side, they are reduced to about 1/9 of their original size, creating wasted space above and below. These issues are addressed by an extension to the multi-view feature.
This extension uses the same principle as the Auto Mirror feature, where the simulator automatically tries to select the most useful view at any given point in the manoeuvre. In this case, the relative sizes of the multiple view windows are then adjusted to make the most appropriate view larger than the others.
For example, both of the mirror views initially become larger than the front window view as soon as reversing begins.
Once a turn is in progress and the articulation angle exceeds 15 degrees the most appropriate mirror view will become larger still.
Driving forwards causes all views to return to their original size.
If you prefer the views to remain fixed you can disable the 'reactive' extension of this feature at any time via the Settings menu option.
